How do I get to know a boy? How to introduce myself?

Ok, so there is this boy... <3
OH. MY. FREAKING. GOODNESS.
He just moved to our school, and I think he is freaking gorgeous, but nobody else seems to think so.
All these years I've been dreaming of my perfect boy, and HERE HE IS!
He plays football, sat with us at lunch (but got moved to a different lunch D and is friends with a lot of the boys in my grade that I'm friends with and sit with at lunch.
Gah, I get butterflies just thinking about him.
My friend said he asked him about me.
I see him in the mornings, after school (I'm there FOREVER. Volleyball, basketball, softball student council.. etc.) and at Football games.
He's really good friends with my best friends boyfriend, so I do see him alot.
How do I just strike up a conversation? Usually I'm NOT shy, trust me. I just, can't seem to talk to him. Any ideas on how to become friends?

omg ik EXACTLY how u feel. hot tall blonde moved to my school last year, i swear he looks like a hollister model. but im like the one of few 2 think so. I talked 2 him usin the best of humor 2 get him smilin and interested. then likke ask him things about himself so tht way he knew i was interested about who he was and wht he liked to do. then we literally started bonding from there, and we're like inseperable good luck!!

Well you say you see him alot so this should be easy,
DONT do dumb stuff like drop a pencil in front of him lol.
Be natural, Be confident, guys love confident girls. Just be like Heey, and he'll probably say hi. and find common grounds. (for ex) if you guys have mutual friends, bring them up. and after you chat for a lil bit, you can just be like well ttyl, smile alot

Just go and talk to him about football or what ever...how do you think a guy feels when he has to go and ask a girl out??
