How do I go about introducing rabbits into my country?

I live on a small tropical island in the eastern caribbean. It's roughly 238 square miles. I'm planning on introducing feral rabbits into the country. I've spoken to various environmentalists, and they don't seem to have a problem with the idea. How should I go about introducing them? I currently have a pair of rabbits, and I'm currently breeding them. How many young do rabbits have on average? How do I ensure their survival in the wild?

why would you want to do a thing like that?
there are probably plant species that exist nowhere else on that island. feral herbivores could wipe them out.
