How do I introduce a kitten to two very territorial female cats?

My cats are both great with us, but they're horrible with any other animals and most people. One gets very violent if held, and the other nearly always attacks little kids. They're sisters, but don't walk by each other without hissing and fighting. We watched a dog for a few weeks and would come home to find him cornered in the bathroom whining hysterically. Now we are thinking about getting a kitten, and a little worried that our ferocious girls will kill it or something. Should we get a female or male kitten? And how can we introduce it to them?

With the background and behavior of those two, I would NEVER bring in another kitten, cat or other pet. Sorry but you know they will not be receptive so WHY would you even think of bringing in an innocent kitten to be terriorized by them?

Are your females spayed? If not, get them done NOW. Females tend to be more territorial then males and are slow to accept new pets in the house. If their attitude changes in the future I would only consider bringing in an older neutered male kitten. NOT another female!

I would not get a new kitten. This is just putting the kitten in a dangerous situation to meet your need to have a new kitten.

Sounds like you have 2 cranky cats, are they spayed? Perhaps they need to be

I would NOT get a kitten - adult cats can easily hurt a kitten - plus you have to feed them seperate since kittens need kitten food for 1 year.

Gender does not matter as long as all are fixed.
