How do I introduce a male puppy to a young grown male dog?

A few days ago, I came across a male pit bull with no tags. I called animal control and they said they wouldn't, that's right, would NOT, come pick it up. I ended up bringing him home, since I had a pit in college. Its somebody's dog, because he is well trained. Sits, lies down, drops toys when retrieving, etc. Hes very friendly, but not neutered. I have put up signs but if no one claims him, I was hoping to maybe keep him. Do you think introducing a puppy doberman to this dog would be ok? Or should i take him to SPCA and put him up for adoption? I really want that doberman pup. It would be nice to keep them both, but I don't think that's going to be possible. Any advice?

Put them next to each other and see what happens here's some things that might happen:
Older dog being aggressive to the new pup:
Keep them in separate rooms and don't share the same bowl for food.
New puppy being aggressive to older dog:
Same thing with the first step
Nothing:
Well your set.
Both being aggressive:
Separate the in sides for the house, both being aggressive can be VERY harmful.
Make sure everyone is aware there is a stray dog at your house that it is NOT yours it was found. Maybe you could go door to door telling people about the dog and giving out flyers. The owners are very upset about their loss and would like their dog home as soon as possible. Check all the vets in your town and ask them if they know the dog or is registered there because it might have details of the owners such as their home which may allow you to hand over the dog. I hope you have a fun time with the dog while your waiting for the owners to come.

Have you tried to call other shelters to see? I know it doesn't seem fair, but if no shelters can take him right now(or they would and put him down which would suck) I would wait to get your puppy if you could. Can you imagine having a stray that you really don't know very well and then bringing in a puppy? Way too much to handle for just about anyone.
