How do i introduce a new guinea pig to my old one?

i have a 2 yr old guinea pig (female) and am getting another guinea pig tomorrow, this one is 6-7 wks old and is a female too. How do i introduce them? Should i wait a few days before i put them together in the cage? and what size cage do you recommend so that they will both have enough room to be comfortable?

well i have only introduce males and most of them went well just 2 of my boys didn't like each other, but i guess it will be easier, what i did was i put them on the ground or something and then put both together on the ground and if i saw any signs of fighting or not liking each other i took one out, and i did it on the day i got the new one

they won't do anything to each other. they just sniff and eat also poop. That's about it. Now a male one... That's different

It really depends on the personalities of the piggies, introducing 2 adult sows is more difficult that introducing a young and an old, or 2 young sows. You should introduce them somewhere that the older piggy isn't familiar with; neutral ground. This way, she won't be territorial. Make sure to pay attention to them when you do place them in the cage.

The best way, just to be safe and to avoid any confrontation put them in neutral territory. Neutral territory often used is the bath tub. The reason critters of any type become aggressive is because they are terriotorial. So introducing the critters in a place such as a bath tub there is nothing to be territorial of because their scent and toys and claimed items are no there. Even though it may be ok to put them straight together for safeties sake I would just introduce them on neutral grounds. Good luck!
