I asked a question similer to this before, but I found out my older dog was scared , not territorial.
My friend got me a 5 month old Golden Retriever puppy as a gift last Thursday. I already have a 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier that got along with my other Jack Russell very well before he died. When I tried to introduce the puppy to the Jack Russell the Jack Russell kept barking at the pup and snapping. I've been trying to socialize them everyday and right now it's at a point where I can keep the pup and the Jack Russell both off the leash, but when the pup starts to get more playful and try to play with the Jack Russell she'll snap at the pup, when this happens I call over the pup and then goto the Jack Russell to separate them. Is there a certain way I should be introducing them?
Also, I was originally planning to get a 5 year old Dachshund, but the Golden Retriever was a gift. So please don't say it was a bad combination.
Thankyou
