how do i introduce my 3 month old kitten to outside for a short while without it...

...running off? my kitten wants to go outdoors but i am unsure as what to do incase she runs off, my older cat is nervous so any noise she heard she ran in the house so no problem with her, this one is not afraid but i am what do i do
i didn't intend to let the kitten outside on its own, i will be in the garden with it, and we live in uk so we don't have the same wild animals as us, and it was only for a short while each time to get her used to outside world i do have a cat flap which i will teach her to use at a later date

Play with it outside in am enclosed area so if it tries to run away he/she won't get far

Put her on a harness and supervise her while she's outside, or make a secure enclosure out of wire fencing or something like that. Then you don't have to worry about dogs, poisonous substances, cars, folks that are authorized to sell "stray" cats to labs for research, etc.

I used a harness for my kitten until she was 6 months old. At that point she was neutered and knew the garden so well that I never worried about letting her out.

Put her in an enclosed area for a few hours each day and supervise her so she doesn't feel to scared about being outside, so she gets use to the new surroundings. then when she is use to it you can just let her out.

Just because a kitten thinks it wants outside, doesn't mean you should let it outside. IMO its much safer inside. Do NOT let any kitten/cat outside unless it is spayed/neutered and has all shots.

Even then, if you think the kitten needs to be outside, then be responsible about it. Either train to a harness/leash and go out with the kitten, or build/buy an enclosed cat enclosure where it can sit in safety.

To let the kitten roam unsupervised is asking for heartache when the kitten gets killed by cars, other animals or disappears. Also not knowing where the kitten is, he could get into poisons, traps and die as slow painful death.
