Your Question
How do I introduce my dogs and cat to a new home?
My Mother will be moving an apartment to the area where which ever job she gets is, and I will be moving into my Father's house soon. I have two dogs a Golden Retrieve and a Maltese mix Bichon (if the breed matters) and an indoor/ outdoor cat. They will be moving to a house with a yard that is about 1 and a half acres long with no fences and there are houses and yards approximately the same size to the left and ahouse with 2 dogs with electric fence/collars to the right. At the end of all of yards is a river where our dock and neighbors docs are. The neighbor to the right has a Rott and a Golden mix and I'm not worried about the Rott because she's a sweetheart but the golden isn't so and has shown aggression towards the dog that's already living at my Father's house . I know my cat will be fine with other animals, but I'm not sure how to get him used to a new wide territiory. My Little Maltese mix also Is known to "Mark" EVERYTHING in the house when he feels he is threatened or his life has changed dramatically which I know he will with the house change and the dog that lves there( who we have babysat and so they know each other but she has quite an attitude) who my cat and Maltese don't particularly hate but don't socialize either. There are nofences separating the back yard from the front yeard either and my maltese likes to escape through my front door and run around the neighborhood which scares me because the house is on a steep hill covered in trees which makes it hard to see small creatures running around. I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions on how to introduce my dogs and cat to their new home? (they have been there before but only once for a play date) ((Sorry it's so long))
