How do I introduce my maltese to my new grandbaby?

I have an 8 year old female Maltese. She is spoiled rotten and she is my baby. My son and his wife just had a baby boy and of course, he will be at our house quite frequently. What is the best way to introduce my maltese to him? of course, I don't want the dog to be jealous of the new baby. Any suggestions?
Oh my grandson will definitely come first!! I will find another home for my beloved pet if I have to but am trying to avoid it coming to that. I would never leave the dog and baby alone in the same room.

We had to take in our infant grandson several years ago. Our dog practically adopted him and would come fuss at me if he was fussing and I didn't move fast enough. Don't worry about it, it'll be fine.

Take a blanket or piece of clothing and let the dog sniff it so she gets used to the baby's scent then slowly bring the baby more and more around her. As long as you still give the dog attention she shouldn't act out.

Put fur baby on a leash and have mom or dad hold new baby while sitting down a cew inches from fur baby.let fur baby sniff and take in the new baby,and gauge her reaction to new baby.it will take awhile for fur baby to get accustomed to new baby but if you just let fur baby have her space from new baby for a bit while she gets used to him and his noises,things should go fine.

Bring the baby item to her and let her sniff a few times a day for a few days. You can take her to you son't house for her to meet the baby there before the baby start coming to your house. You have to teach her to give the baby some space at first. Give her plenty of attention and don't yell at her if she gets too close to the baby. And for the first few months, never leave her alone with the baby. A spoil dog still needs to give that baby respect. I'm sure she'll be fine. But keep in mind that she is a dog and not a baby. Your grandson's safety comes first.

Ask the parents first. Honestly, I am not a dog person and therefore would not feel comfortable having my infant around a dog, regardless. They are still animals and even if you have never seen them act out before, introducing a new baby to the mix can be very stressful for animals, especially when the dog has been around for so long.

Regardless of how old the dog is or how long you have known him, do NOT leave the dog and the baby alone in the room together.
