How do I introduce my new dog to my (somewhat) aggressive kitty?

I'm about to get a new dog, and I've been making a LOT of preparations before I bring her home. The new dog (a 5 1/2 y/o female pug) is really good with kids and other animals, so I can't see having more than a few minor problems with her. My cat is a 4 y/o male (neutered) stray that I adopted from a family member as a kitten. We've had other cats live with him, and he never once fought, but ever since one ran off and the other died (leaving him alone), he has been more than a little aggressive every time I try to introduce a new pet, even another cat. Other than this, he is a really well behaved cat. I've looked up a lot of articles online on how to introduce a dog to a cat, but I can't find anything that covers what to do if your CAT is the aggressive one. Pugs are playful dogs, and I'm worried that my new dog might get ripped to shreds if she tries to play with my kitty!

Your cat is normal. All Kitty's are protective of their territory and every cat will be a little aggressive towards a new member to the family (including kids) some are a little more than others but they never do too much harm. He may run up to the roof or a high place of the house and not come down for a long time or he might scratch and hiss at her but he will get used to the pug. Hope I helped and good luck

My aggressive cat doesn't take to any animals comming into the house she got use to it 2 dogs new puppy and a rabbit. The puppy goes to play all the time with her she hisses she claws and she began playing with him took a year at least. She was an indoor cat now she goes out with him and comes in with him they connected somehow. She still is very aggressive towards everyone even myself but she is also playful which she never was before. She is 13 years old she adjusted and grew the rabbit she sniffs and scouts around doesn't bother her. Every animal was a challenge for us the dogs she took time but ended up answering the door with them, following us around the house in a pack all 4 animals I even got pictures unplanned they are in them together with no prompts.
