How do I introduce myself if I have a weird name?

my name is hard to pronounce, and whenever I introduce myself I always get a 'what?' or 'excuse me?'.... it's kinda annoying and can hinder my confidence a bit and makes me a bit more reluctant to be friendly and introduce myself to others.

Is there a funny or friendly way to introduce myself when someone says 'hi, im ____' and i respond 'hi im laksjd' and they say 'what?' rather than just repeating my name over and over.

Maybe i should say something like 'i know, it's a tongue twister' or 'yea, i didnt even know how to say it until a couple years ago'

make a short form of your name and just introduce yourself like that

maybe you should explain the origin of your name/ where it came from/ what nationality it is
"Hi im Laksjd"
"What?"
"Yeah i know its (Whatever nationality it is). not very common here"
Something like that should do, hope this helps

also, perhaps a nickname? Instead of Laksjd, just introduce yourself as Lak. easier to pronounce im sure
