how do I introduce myself to people to make more friends?

soo I was homeschooled from kindergarten to seventh grade. so I had developed noo social skills by 8th grade. so when I had my first day at public school, I had no social skills and everybody already had their friends. a lot of people tried to talk to me but i was socially awkward so I didn't really make any more than a few friends. but as the year went on i got more confident and got social skills and made a a lot more friends. but i still don't have that many. and I want to make more. I just don't know how to because everyone's first impression of me was "the quiet shy kid" so how do I like start talking to more people? (im going into 10th grade this year)
and on facebook, how do I start talking to people I know, but am not friends with?

you just have to 'do'. go up to them and say hi. you can generally tell by someones response whether they are willing to talk to you. and if they aren't it's their loss, not yours.
as for facebook, i usually wait until i hear something about them and start by asking if it's true. or asking if they're ok or if they need to talk. or comment on their status and see if they respond.

it's usually better to make friends in person first though, then you can really see what they are like

Be friendly. Compliment people.
Tell someone you like their shirt.
Tell someone else they have cute shoes.
Crack a funny joke.
Be nice!
Talk and interact with as many kids as possible.
Talk about classes&teachers with other kids.
On fb, comment on peoples posts.
If they make a statment you agree with, say it!
Say something funny.
If someone posts a pic of themself, say something nice about it like "haha funny pic" or "nice pic" or like a question like "where did u take tht" or something like that. Good luck!

Just do what i do, ease up a little and put one hand in your pocket like a cool kid with your thumb out of your pocket. And have a cool guy type of smirk or smile and give them a handshake with your open hand and say "hey im ____" a beer in the belly helps with this

And on fb, if someone post a funny post or a funny picture, comment on it with something that can be replied to like "haha thats great, how did that happen" and let it go on from there
