Hi there i bought two male kittens off my friends 4 months ago. Having gone around there this weekend i saw there sister, she was 1/3 of the size and very unhappy. she wasnt mistreated, just they have 5 cats and find it hard to treat them all well. for obvious reasons we took Jessie home with us that night to get her back to a decent size and greater happyness.
they dont know each other now, and jessie is very scared of them,
will they be happy together once again, or is this a losing battle, any advise is hugely appriated!!!
thanx Carl

Yes they will settle, but imagine how u would feel in Jessies shoes, she wasnt fitting in with the 5 other cats, was most likely imtimidated in a cat kinda way, wasnt getting her share of the food and wasnt getting attention. Add to this that shes still a young cat, adolescance is hard on cats, her scents are developing but at the moment her brothers scents will be more established in your home. Shes at a disadvantage so you will have to be patient. Dont be surprised if she wont use their litter and is submissive and 'allows' them to take her food, if thats the case, feed her seperately at first and give her a seperate litter next to the other tray, just until she knows that SHE has a home there and give her lots of special attention. The other two will seem familiar in some ways but the new enviroment is the bigger challenge, it can take a while for any cat to adjust to others, but she will, even if it seems awful at times, just make sure shes healthy the rest will come around in time.
Bear in mind also that the two u took originally will have times when they seem friendlier and more distant as their cat needs and personalities grow, but they do have a bond... when u see them all curled up in a heap in front of the fire on a cold winter night it will all be worth it
Worth mentioning about her size, if she is a moggy with any tortieshell on her she will be smaller anyway, and females are generally but not always smaller than males. Worry more about her condition and her adjustment.
i put jessie back in my bedroom for tonight, both Buzz and Tony ran to me desparate for affection, (both sat on my lap as i type, trying to purr louder than the other lol, not easy stroking 2 cats with one hand lmao)
the problem i have is jessie doesnt feel comfortable staying with them, growling at first and then hissing when they try to make friends. im not sure i can keep jessie in there for many nights as she spent all last night playing with my faces etc...
how long until do reckon until i can let them share the same room and be able to turn my back on them?
she is a black n white short hair, i treat her lik shes only 3 months cos of her size. Buzz was the runt of the litter, Tony the first born, her other sister at another friends is as big as the two boys.
i feel so sorry for her, but i dont want her to destroy the happy home the boys have built.
any additional advise would be amazing!!!!!!!!
thanx once again,
Carl
