I always used to have my facebook chat turned OFF because I don't like talking to people when I'm on there. it used to always keep me logged out because I had it turned off...but now every time I log into my page it says it's online, even though I just turned it offline. is there anything to keep it permanently off, like it used to be before?

I already completely offended a friend because I didn't answer back to her chat. really. help?
