This is a little twist on what you are asking, it releases the muscle, the whole muscle. This feels better because it is the whole muscle you are working on rather than just the top half of the muscle which is all that gets any attention when you massage. A good way of keeping customers coming back by only doing half of the muscle! Some who have had the following release done have compared it to a cross between a massage and a treatment from the chiropractor, a good combination if you want some relief:
Back: (do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
