Yes, as wellas, sides of neck, back of shoulders, it's all good. Not too hard, but applying enough pressure for it to feel nice is important. Asking questions to make sure the massage is enjoyable is deffinitly the answer. You can Rub the sides of the neck in circular motions, then knead the shoulders like you would bread, use your thumbs to rub circules on the back of the shoulders...especially around the scapula where it gets very sore. The person you're giving the massage to will let you know what he/she likes.
