How do you introduce babies to strangers/new faces?

This is how I do it..I hold my son and I let whoever I'm introducing him to talk to him from a far,then I tell my son so say hi or something.they will ask "can I hold him"...I tell them only if he gos to you then yes that's fine but if he doesn't go to you then don't bother picking him up or trying to take him from me because he willjust cry.now is this ok or am I doing it wrong?
My man just gives my baby(he is 8months)to the people we are talking to and right away he cries.and I have to take him and calm him down,then he won't even go to anyone he will stay with me.my man says he is fine and I'm like no he is scared he doesn't know these people and you have to do everything slowly so he can get used to them.now is that the right thing to say or am I saying that wrong as well? Sometimes my mans mom will just walk up on my son and try to pick him up and all my son does is cry or crawl to me.now I don't want that to always happen because that is gma ya know and I don't know what to tell her because I'm not making my son go to anyone he doesn't want to.is that bad?if he is crying and pushing away when someone else is holding him I'm going to take my baby back.is that right?...is anything I'm saying right?...please someone help me out...I would like A) for you to tell me how you introduce you baby to new people and B) if what I am doing is right....I would love it thanks so much.
