I have 3 rescued indoor cats that I have had for years, they have never been around dogs. I am thinking about getting a small 15lb terrier I saw in the local shelter that I fell in love with but I am concerned about how the dog and my cats would get along. According to the shelter the dog gets along with cats. I am not so much concerned about him hurting my cats but my cats hurting him. I would want to get to know the dog in my home and include my cats without having to lock any of them up in separate rooms. How can I accomplish this?
