How do you introduce yourself in high school?

I'm a senior and I have trouble meeting new people. I have a lot of friends but I really want to develop the skill of approaching people.

The only times Ive truly approached a stranger is through another friend. In all my attempts, I always ended up being straightforward and shaking their hand and everything which I hate. People think that's weird and too formal. So how do you casually befriend someone?

To casually become someones friend is to say hi every once in a while, to let them know you know they are there. Then it will become routine.

I say hi im sara and raise a hand up to look like a wave without the waving

well u just go up to the person and just say
"Hey, I think I've seen you around in a lot of my classes, I'm (your name), nice to meet you."

...or somthing along the lines of that.
they'll most likely respond to that, and afterwards, you and them are no longer strangers. that relationship will keep building up; you can try sitting by them at lunch and just starting a conversation. just be friendly and never be shy!
