how is your "at home" room set-up? decorated?

I'm trying to start an at home business and was wondering what I might be missing in my room? For all you veterans out there...how is your room set up to be most efficient? Lighting? music? etc.... just wanting some ideas!

Do a search on SageTherapist (author). She has some great descriptions of her treatment room - although it isn't a home studio, her descriptions were helpful for me in designing my space.

Mr room is 14x10. I move my table around - sometimes perpendicular to the window and sometimes at a diagonal in the room. I have hardwood floors. My stereo is in the adjacent room, but I have the speakers in the massage room. I don't like to listen to the sound of it changing CDs. I have a shelving unit covered with fabric and "hide" my sheets and supplies behind the fabric. I have some candles on a table where I keep my oils.

For the client I have a chair with a rug at their feet, tissues and a place for them to put their jewelry.

The room is pretty simple, but it works.

[Protecting the baby]

I am in the process of moving my home office into my new clinic : )
My home room is 10x11, I have hard wood floor with a area rung under my table. In one corner I have a chair for my clients with a side table(place to keep their jewellery etc and where I keep a bowl of candy), an Armoir is on one side of the wall where I store my sheets, oils etc and on top is the stereo, fake plant with mini lights in it, a nice oriental lamp and some little angel figurines. I also have another chair where I set my pillows and heating pad(which heats the pillow that goes under their feel ; )) I have some beautiful massage posters on the wall as well as my certificate. Nice soft curtains with a flower swag on top. The room is painted a sage green with a nice border around the top. I have an area set up in the next room with my computer, desk for them to sit at where I issue receipts etc.

Yes, and as LaLoba says, Sagetherapist is FULL of great ideas and her posts are very helpful. I think she should start her own marketing business!!

I have a picture of my room posted on my website - you could check that out.
I have my stereo under my table - seems to fill the room with sound more.

Two things that I incorporated I think I should pass on are:

Room darkening curtains (I also have shades behind the curtain - my room has 7 windows)

Noice machine with waves option (some clients like the birds) to help block out outside noises.

I would love to have more space, but for now I just make due with what I have.

I find this topic real helpful. I have a room set up (the living room) that I use for massage but the only clients I have had in there so far have been my husband and a friend I worked on while I was in school.

I've noticed that most massage rooms tend to have an asian theme to them or at least asian elements, very feng shui. Do you think that this is a necessity? Or just personal preference? I don't want to totally redo the room since it is integral to the house and I don't plan on doing a whole lot of massage from home. I hope to get my own place/space someday soon. I don't mind doing some temporary cosmetic changes.

Question. Do you think that a gun cabinet kinda throws the peacefulness of the room 'off'? : :wink: If it looks like I'm going to be taking a lot of clients at home, I plan on getting a screen for the gun cabinet.

Yes, It is one of the benefits with ABMP. It is easy to set up and edit.
I recommend ABMP if you haven't joined an association and would like to.

In my office we have white walls....we have ecclectic furniture.
I bought a Monet(poster, matted) which is on one wall. Two walls are windows and the other houses out=r highboy chest of drawers.
My co-leasee haas a beautiful small fountain which we put on our file cabinet.

If were my space I would paint the walls.

You can put up posters or curtains or fabric.

Yes, I think the gun cabinet needs to be hidden...lol.
