Hi All !
I had a discectomy of L5/S1 6 weeks ago and have my follow up appointment with the consultant tomorrow. I'm doing ok, but still have numbness in my foot and a bit of pain in the back of my leg/buttock, especially when sitting for more than about 15 mins. It then gets really uncomfortable. I've yet to have any physio/specific exercises.
Now what worries me......is the consultant going to tell me that my 6 weeks are up & it's straight back to work on Monday?? I'm keen to get back to normal, but really don't feel ready to be back at my desk just yet and would like a bit of time to get used to sitting again. I can start driving again tomorrow too. I'm on full sick pay at the moment, so rushing back for financial reasons isn't an issue.
I'd be interested to hear if any of you folks out there have exceeded the standard 6 week sicknote. I don't want to sound like a work-shy hypochondriac when I go in there tomorrow, but this really is worrying me!
Grateful for any reassurance!
