How long does it take to train a mpa?

Just curious. Seen a superb sp struggle to transition into becoming an mpa now.

I mean when this gal was an sp she'd blow me away. As an mpa she's probably been the worst I've ever seen and she really had to go in for the kill to finish me off.

So for the mpas on the board, here's my question: how long does it take to train a mpa to become proficient?

In theory I never thought that being an mpa was such a "skilled" position. Perhaps, I was wrong.

I was never trained....

Anything I learned was from watching my clients reactions to what I did and being open to suggestions...

I still believe that massage is more creative and sensual than fs - and I believe that sensuality is a trait that cannot really be taught so I can see how the transition might not be as easy as some people would assume.

I was trained by legends...Melanie, Katie, Kelly....Watch & learn, lots of hilarious demos, discussion. After that, its all trial & error. Some catch on quick, some develop over years.

Nowadays, we've trained so many we have it down to a science. Training is really important to set a girl off on the right foot...for us, its more about giving her the tools to survive/excell. However...I truly believe you can't make a gem, you can only find them. Some girls really understand the theory behind the practical. Others not so much. The results are usually easy to see...the gems rise to the top, the rest rely on walk-ins.

I dont know about sp-ing...but being a star MPA is sooo different than most expect. And is quite the art/science. As Jenn said above, massaging needs more depth & multi-levels of service. Its not just massage-flip-jerk. In fact, the good ones never repeat the same session.

But to define a set timeline....thats hard. We spend a few hrs initially with a rookie, plus 2-3 followup training meetings. Plus a few non-massageplanet.net gentlemen that see our rookies to teach another angle...The Customers! Some girls require more than others.

I made the transition from SP to MPA and I found the transition rather easy. I think that the two are very similar yet very different. At first I found that I had issues with timing. I found that as an SP it is wam bam thank you mam and away they go, where as an MPA is much more sensual. It is all about the tease instead of just "going for the kill".

I agree with Jenn's comments. A good MP its about tease and seduction, it's like an art. Not necessarily for a SP, I believe that's more a natural instinct and a strong sex drive. Given this I can understand that it my be a difficult transition from SP to MPA.

Guys could get jerked off by literally hundreds of potential girls, but why do clients choose the same girls week after week?

The mistake the young hot MPAs make is thinking that looks are the only potential factor in their success. Yes they'll get picked once by the walk ins, but those clients may or may not repeat.

I believe the mechanics can be taught, but not much else. Either a girl has "the touch" or she doesn't. Same with the ability to build the emotional connection that makes clients want to repeat.

Sara @ S9 is the perfect example. If she could sell bottles of her touch, sensualness & attitude she'd be set for life...

A great post in a great thread... the gems are not relying on walk ins because they have the same cadre of loyal guys who want to see them again and again and again. You would think this would be much better for the MPAs because they would be making a lot more money from clients they know and trust... given this reality, it always amazes me many of the girls don't do more to make a first great session, especially given how much future revenue this can represent if the guy wants to repeat. I think that is one of the key 'theories behind the practical' that the great ones understand. The massage-flip-jerk approach, which is so prevalent, pretty much guarantees that's the only time you'll ever make money from that particular guy.

I had a fabulous session once with one of my faves who asked me while I was showering beforehand if she could bring in a brand new girl she wanted to train for her very first massage ever... even though that was a lot of selfish pleasure for myself I'm sure it also was very beneficial for the new MPA as well. It's true they could figure out a lot of this stuff without training through trial and error, but why try to reinvent the wheel? I think watching some of the greats in action would give any new girls in the business a tremendous head start and a great foundation to build upon.

So true!! Too many girls think all they need to do is lie there and look hot - but because there are way more boundaries then there are in SP-ing, Jennifer is totally right in saying that this requires way more creativity on the part of the MPA. I think the thing that really sets apart the greats is how proactive they are to make a really erotic session from start to finish.

I agree with Jenn,Azn Lover & Open wide completely.

Very rarely I see an Attendent improving drastacilly after the 1st session, There are always exceptions like I remember vividly my first session with Claudia & Sierra (2 of my most favourites) and both were not very good sessions but I did repeat because of their looks and it worked out.
I believe that the key to be successful in any line of work is to at least like what you are doing (A part from the Money aspect of it). If you do then you try to better & better regardless of training you get.

Having said that , the newer girls still need a good guidence to understand as most of them start very young and are clueless about how it works.

When I worked in spas; time and time again, when a new girl started - especially if she was super-hot, she'd be booked solid for the first month or so. Very few girls maintained that initial surge in business after time had passed.

... and to expand on that - I think liking one's clients allows the attendant to feel sensual during her sessions and allows her to be open enough to build some sort of an emotional connection... At the end of the day, that's tough to fake but the girls who like their clients are almost-always the girls who do well.

Since it's so important for us to respect the girls as people, when they do the same for us as clients that clearly works out the best for everyone concerned.
