How often have you raised your rates?

I've seen lots of discussion about raising rates, but not frequency! So tell me, how long in practice and how many times have you raised your rates?

Me - I've done it once, and getting ready to do it again and have been in private practice for 9 yrs.

Ivn been in business 5 yrs, only raised them once. Im curious as well about how often!

We usually raise our rates about every 3 yrs or so. Just depends on what the going rate in our area is.

I've been in business 7 years & raise my rates approx. every 2 years. Other MT's in my town raise their rates either annually or every 2 years, so my local economy encourages raises. I wait until I feel ready, and then put up a sign. I can tell it's time when I look at the amount of the check payments & feel I deserve more than that. Actually, I'm due for a raise this year, and I'm ready! That sign will be popping up on my wall any day now.

For our mobile business, we raised rates after 3 years and are about due for another, especially with gas prices being what they are.

When we enter a new market, we are usually setting a higher price than had been previously charged.

Increases are in the neighborhood of 10% to keep round numbers

For our spa, we opened a year ago charging about the same as the better established spas, but offered a more complete and luxurious experience. After 6 months we raised rates 12 - 20%.

No price resistance in either business to our increases.

I've been massaging for a little over 3 years, and raised most of my rates when I went into a new building a few months ago.
With the new year, I just raised my 30 minute rate and my stone massage rates.
I'm sure it will be at least 1-2 more years before any more rates go up.


I did get annoyed with my Chiro last year- he raised his rates on his anniversary of being in business (that was towards the end of the calander year, like in Oct maybe), then he raised them AGAIN on the 1st of the year. ANNOYING!
