How the heck do I get rid of yahoo chat (in my email)?

I've searched for previous questions posted like this here on yahoo answers, but the so-called "best answer" was of little help. Please note: I DO NOT have the yahoo messenger. For some reason, chat is part of my yahoo email and really slows things down whenever I go into my email. AND when I click on "cancel", it goes nowhere. It's just an annoying, large program I didn't ask for as part of my yahoo mail, that really, really slows things down to the point that I have trouble getting the page to move when I click on my yahoo messages.
