RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - After New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was charged with soliciting prostitution through a massage parlor earlier this month, it shined a spotlight on illegal massage parlors around the country.
One local massage therapist speaks out on what happened when someone asked for a happy ending.
Sara Coady works at Infinity Salon & Wellness Spa. She said, "I froze for a solid 2 seconds and then I was like I need to get this guy out of here."
In her 8 years of massage therapy, Sara's had one person ask her "for more than a massage."
But she said this kind of behavior is common.
Sara said they taught her in massage school how to handle similar situations but the fact that "happy endings" are even part of the curriculum says something.
It's important to know what to look out for when visiting a massage therapist for the first time.
Red flags are store-front signs that only say massage or massage parlor.
Another hint you're in the wrong place is if they call themselves a masseuse instead of a massage therapist.
