How to become a massage therapist in Canada? Advice from present massage therapists?

I'm at my point of life right now where I have to look hard in myself and try to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life. For a long time- since I was a kid, I wanted to be a massage therapist. But you know, parents don't seem to approve of the idea, and everybody seems to frown upon college (from my research many massage therapy schools are college courses) so I would like to know if there are ANY former, future, present massage therapists who could give me some feedback, insight or advice about this idea.
