how to introduce a new dog to a male cat?

my dad just moved in and he brought his female dog and i have a male cat they both are not fixed. we had them meet 2 times so far both times the dog showed little to no aggression but the cat was staring at the dog and when ever the dog would get too the cat would hiss and swipe at the dog. i was just wondering want technique to use to get them to live in peacefulness

i would get rid of the dog...dogs are dirty and bark and annoy alot of people! Your cat was there first, so he's just making sure the mutt knows her place! Dogs tend to cause alot of damages to houses and you always have to walk it and cause alot of distress in homes! I would just get rid of the dot and get another cat if you must!

can't you give the dog away or give it to someone?

Just let them be around each other for a while. They will settle it out... If the cat hurts the dog separate them immediately... Keep them apart untill further notices...

If cat is a kitten and dog is small then it is not difficult or if Dog is very samll though cat is big again no problem. But if both are older then its a bit difficult unless they had a good love exp with opp other animal .
