How to introduce a new kitten to an older stubborn cat?

I have a cat for 11 years, her name is Bubbles. She used to be really energetic but now she's old and doesn't fight much. My mother recently seen a kitten in a shelter and she wants to get it, but she's too worried about Bubbles. We are afraid that Bubbles will run away from home because of this new kitten, How should we introduce the kitten to Bubbles?

Leave the kitten in it's box for while and let them sniff each other through it. This sounds crazy but I swear it works - make them smell the same. Put a tiny dab of perfume or hairspray or something on each animal before introducing them. It sounds crazy but it seems to help. Maybe even keep kitten in a closed room at night, making sure Bubbles knows her home is still her home and she's still safe. Just for one night or maybe two.

i think you should keep both of them away,bcoz it can lead to a cat fight may be it would be fatal to the little kitten .so i suggest you should keep a watch on both of them.
kittens are very innocent and playful,but your older cat wont tolerate the new kitten in your home.
can't say .....since they are animals.

My eldest cat was 2 years old before we introduced the kitten to her but I haven't had any problems. If anything the elder cat will just make sure it's the alpha female. Other than that they should be fine.

i had a similar issue a few months ago with my new kitten and cat. first things first if either cat is an outdoor cat, do try and keep them indoors at all cost for the next month or so while they transition into getting used to each other. make sure each animal is healthy and doesn't test positive for AIDS/LEUKEMIA because these can be passed on to each other. then to get them used to each other lock each cat in separate rooms for the first week with food and water - only leaving the crease in the door available for them this way they can sniff each other out through the room and get used to the scent of another cat. then, after the week is up slowly start to introduce them to each other in a confined room with supervision at all times. do it more often if u see positive feed back. in about 2 weeks they should be well off enough to fully introduce to each other if all goes well. when u do so, make sure u provide separate water and food bowls and litter boxes until they get more used to each other and then they can start to share one litter box.
