How to introduce kitten to puppy?

I have a kitten who is 6months old and my brother just got a dog who just turned 5months old yesterday. The puppy is locked up with my brother in his room because he was neutered before we got him so the kitten and puppy haven't exactly met yet. Although, on the day that we got him, my kitten slipped into my brothers room and hid under his bed. When I tried to retrieve him I saw him see a part of the puppy back and he hissed, and started creeping towards him. When I pulled him out from under the bed he hissed at me. He didn't try to attack me or anything though. Now I'm afraid to see how they will react to each other when they actually meet for real when the puppy recovers...How do I make it to where my kitten will not hiss at the puppy again? What do I do?

This will take time.

Introduce them where they can SEE each other, but can't TOUCH each other. Use an ex-pen or baby gate, with each animal on opposite sides. Let them smell each other.

since the cat was in the house first he feel like the dog is an intruder i would introduce them while in their are in their carrying cages or through a glass door or window, when a stray cat came into our home (phyco kitty) my dog and him were not at all fond of each other but one night i walked into my room and they were cuddled together they will get along eventually and when they do it will make for some adorable pictures

it takes time. i just hope your dog does not have a chase instinct that will make things harder but they will tolerate each other eventually (just requires supervision).
