How to introduce more females to my Betta sorority?

I have a 55 gallon planted with 6 Cory catfish, 7 platies, and 6 Female Betta's. I have had the tank stocked for a bit, and want to add a few more Betta's.

But the ones that I will be adding are breeders quality, and I do not want them to get torn up to bad. What is the best way to introduce the new females to the tank? I plan on of course turning the light off for a day. What else should I do? When I added my 6 females, they nipped and flared for a few days. But with everything peaceful right now, I am a little scared that I will shake things up to much and cause everyone to bite each others tail off. When they were all introduced, I was lucky to only have a small nip in one of my two Cambodian females. Any suggestions?

Also, how many can I add? I do not want to go crazy and overstock the tank. Total number of females I could have in the tank with the 7 platies and 6 cats?

Maybe try putting in a separator for a while..? The only other things I could think of is to make sure there is plenty of hiding in there for now.
I don't know that much about putting female bettas together, but just use your best judgment and do what you can, then hope for luck.

Oh, and add as many as you want, just use your judgment on that as well. it sounds like you have enough room for a couple more.

Get some breeder nets or betta condos so water can still move through the bettas and the others will get used to them and not be harmed

adding more isnt the best idea but if u insist only get about four more i dont think u can avoide nipping compleatly but tryn only adding a few at a time hope it helps

I'm actually having to do something similar.

What I did was rearranged my decor, shut off the light (like you mentioned) AND I took out the ones that were already "established" (i.e: already staked out their territories) and put them each in separate containers for an hour. Then I reintroduced everybody at the same time.

I understand this can be stressful for the fish, but you have to weigh that against stress in the tank long term for the newcomer.
