how to introduce my cat?

I am 20 and have a 5 month old male kitten. For financial reasons I plan to move home with my parents in a couple months. They have a 10 year old male cat , 6 year old female cat and 4 year old small dog. I took my kitten to their house to see if things were good enough for me to bring him home for Christmas. The dog and him got along fine and were playing, while the older male cat didn't seem to either like or dislike him, but allowed him to eat from his dish and smell him. The problem is with the female cat. She hissed and growled and tried to attack the kitten,so that I had to keep him in his cage fo most of the visit and as I was leaving the two of them were hissing at each other through the bars. Any ideas on how to introduce them properly? I live close enough that trips to my parents house are possible before I move back. I have no option but to move home so I really have to make this work or give up the kitten.

give them treats whenever they are together ... you could try feliway It helps the animals stay more calm in new environments.

Do it slowly. Keep the kitten in one room and introduce them gradually. They may never get along but since the female cat is use to the older male cat it's possible they will get along in the future.

We recently lost our 3 1/2 year old Abyssinian girl and her surviving brother got introduced to a 3 month old female. After a month, they're almost the best of friends so it's possible to do it.

The best thing you can do is give it a try and hope for the best. Just don't expect it to happen overnight.
