My dog is a Jack Russell x Springer Spaniel. He's very placid, yet clumsy and doesn't quite know the boundaries of Rough and Tumble and going too far.
Today has been his first full day with us. (He's 8 weeks old.) Last night, when we first brought him home, I held the bunny in my arms and my Dad held the puppy in his arms. The Bunny seemed a little tense and frightened, but the dog just wanted to sniff her. Again, tonight we re-introduced them and he sniffed her for a while, once again, she seemed tense and a bit frightened. He has interest in her when she first hops into the room, but then settles back onto the sofa.
We haven't actually let them down onto the floor with each other, one has always been in someone's arms when they've met.
I understand that prey drive is something you can't really train out of a dog, but the dog we have is a fat, clumsy softie.
I really don't want to stress my rabbit out too much and make her feel like we're trying to be mean to her.
Anyone have any tips? :S
Oh, and when we took him outside to pee, we took him to the terrace where the rabbit's run and hitch are and he paid absolutely no attention to her at all, even though he must have been able to smell her!
