How to introduce my GSD puppy to my old GSD?PLEASE HELP?

The puppy will be 7 weeks old when brought home on thursday. my old german shepherd is 12 years old.
The problem is that the old german shepherd is always loose in the house (which of course is gated).
So,when the puppy comes i dont want to put my old gsd in his adult crate and introduce the pup through the crate because im afraid hell think "oh, new pup coming, and ill stay in a crate while hes loose as i was before", and that will make it a bad experience.
I cant really introduce them in a "neutral" area because well thats isnt really an option for us, plus my parents wont let me haha please understand.
btw the puppy will sleep in a private space.

You should keep the new puppy in the crate for a while. And when the older dog gets more used to its smell you could leave the puppy out for a little while and put it back in
