How to introduce my new kitten to my older cat?

I have a male cat, Willie, he is about 4 years old. He is pretty laid back, but if you mess with him a bunch he tends to get a bit fiesty. I am getting a new female kitten tomorrow and was wondering if there is there a certain way I should introduce them? I absolutely do not want either one to get hurt. Should I wait or should I go ahead and inrtoduce them now? Any suggestions?

Weird thats my same problem. Show her to him if he hisses and lashes out its okay. just make sure she doesnt get hurt. let him be mad and do what he needs to do and they'll end up okay.

if it isnt too late, try this:
find two rooms with adjoining doors
put one cat it one room and the other in the other room for an hour or so, allowing them to be comfy and sniff out the place
switch the cats so they are in the other room
allow them to sniff out the other cat's smell
when they are done, introduce them face to face.
the introducing of the smell first helps them out, since they realize that there is another cat around.

Make sure introductions are supervised and in short segments. You don't want either cat to get overly stressed and you really don't want to have to pay for a vet bill if your older cat decides to get territorial.

Give them some time. Don't force them to meet the first time they see each other. Never leave them alone until you know they get along. Show your older cat that your new cat is okay.

My experience is older cats are mostly tolerant of young kittens. Older cat will just walk off, but may smack the kitten and put it in its place. If you can I saw somewhere that is helpful to keep the cats in separate rooms divided by a glass door for a while so they can't hurt each. It is important to know that not only do the cats have to get use to seeing each other, just as important they have to get use to each others smell.
