how to start a speech about text massaging?

i really dont know how to start..
and last ques. what do you think about texting?
i need to pursue my classmate that texting is actually affecting their everyday routine...
and my presentation is on thursday or fiday..
pls help

Do something creative to get people's attention. For example, I would coordinate with a friend to have her leave his or her phone on (clear this with your teacher first). Then text her the first line to your speech (something like "Did you know the average teenager sends ___ text messages a day?" - I don't know any stats, you'll have to look them up) and after her text message sound goes off loudly, have her read it aloud.

Then you can segue into your speech about how texting has become such an inextricable part of modern life, or whatever.

Well you could go more along the lines of how texting and driving is really dangerous. I watched an episode of Oprah on it yesterday about people getting killed because of texting while driving. You can begin your speech with statistics on how many people get killed in car accidents becasue of it or start with a story of someone who has been killed.
