How would you introduce two cats to each other?

My current cat is 16 years old, and has been my only cat her whole life. (So I am not sure how she would act to other cats). The new cat is between 6-8 months old and was abandoned in the woods. Both cats are female and are friendly to people. How should I introduce them so that it is less stressful on them and they will eventually get along or at least just tolerate each other? Thanks in advance!

PS: We don't have the new cat yet but just to prepare my cat to other cat scents.. my friend's two cats (Female and Male) (both fixed) laid on my sweater and rubbed their scent on it. So I brought it home to my cat and she sniffed it once and just went on with her day. Is that a good start?

Don't force them on eachother, that is what happened with my cats and they can't stand eachother, maybe bring the kitten in the house, but dont put them in eachother faces, let them do it in thier time..
