I hear on the radio about how we should donate to the Japanese relief fund via the salvation army, the red cross etc.

Ok, now, I totally understood and sent some money for the haiti relief fund because, hell, they were piss poor to begin with and needed our help.

So, if we get 1,000,000 of our middle class (since the elite and poor won't donate a penny) and since they're asking for $5.00 each, that comes to $5,000,000.00 right?

If they donated $1,000,000.00 each, they'd still be filthy rich, they'd have $40M for relief, and we could donate our $5.00 to help that single mother feed her kid 2 blocks down the road....

I'm getting sick and tired of the middle class doing all the work while the top 1% light their cigars with $100.00 bills and buy $1M baseballs......(oh and build 40 storey skyscrapers for their family of 12)

Ok. So if I'm understanding you correctly...in India, they should be teaching/providing birth control instead of how to take care of babies. Which I would totally agree with if "instead of" it was "in addition to."

But in Ethiopia, mass sterilization is a better option because Ethiopians can't or won't use condoms or BCP? Perhaps implants would be an option, some last for years. Or provide voluntary sterilizations, with the key word being "voluntary".

I don't disagree with you that overpopulation is a serious issue, one that requires more than feeding the hungry as a solution. I also don't pretend to know the answers to complex issues about which I don't know enough to make informed suggestions. I just find going straight to mass sterilization as an answer to be a bit extreme, that's all.


Agreed. Most of my charity $$ stays local...mostly the food bank. I love it when the grocery store does the thing where you can do a donation at checkout, I do it every time.

The only international organizations I donate to are Heifer International and Afghan Hands, both because their services are of the "teach a man to fish" variety.

I no longer donate to the Red Cross or the United Way because of past financial shenanigans. It only takes once for me to decide my money would be put to better use by another organization.

We have more food in the Western Hemisphere that could be given to the needy abroad 1500-2300 daily isn't alot of food, and you'd be more in tune with female circumcision than I.

You don't coddle women those women attractive or not bleed the same as you and I. You're not coddling them, you're insulting them and in the process you insult all women whether you accept or realize that's what you're doing.

Sure, there are times when you can be humourous and not misogynist, but they are becoming far and few between.
