gets 10 points!!? I have a 2year old female cat that just showed up at our house when she was 6months old. She is very affectionate. She (name: Roxie) lives in the garage that is attached to our house. She goes in and out of the garage and is spayed, but she never wanders far. She loves hunting.
So we just got a new Maine Coon cat. He (name: Sylvester) is only a little bit smaller than Roxie. He is 14weeks old. He lives in our other Garage that is a bit farther away from our house. We will start letting him outside soon.
So I introduced the two this morning.
Things I did before that:
I switched there bedding every night for 3 or 4 nights.
I let Roxie see where Sylvester lives yesterday without them meeting each other.
I rubbed a clean towel on Roxie, then Sylvester, then Roxie, then Sylvester, right before they met this morning.
I rubbed Roxie's used liter on Sylvester right before they met.
----------
So Roxie has seemed kinda depressed since I let her sniff around where Sylvester lives without her meeting him yet. When I let them meet this morning I had both of them each in their own crate facing each other. They where in Sylvester's garage. So then I put 2 little piles of meat between them, and I lured them closer together with that. Roxie groaned when Sylvester got too close, but she never attached him. After a while I just let them go freely where they wanted to. Roxie kept trying to hide, while Sylvester followed her all around, because I think he wanted to play with her. Like I said, whenever he got to close she made a groaning noise. So pretty much Roxie was avoiding Sylvester the whole time. I tried to get them to play together, but Sylvester was the only one who would play. Roxie just hid under the John Deer lawn Mower. I was really hoping Roxie would take to him as a mom, but they are almost the same size like I said. I'd like Roxie to be a friend to Sylvester, and teach him how to hunt etc. She is just kinda cautious of him. She is not a very timid cat at all, she always follows us around like a dog, and we have a dog who she stands right up to. She will sit quietly by the road when a car comes by, but is still street smart.
HELP PLEASE!! I really want them to be friends. What do I do now?
