I was recently in Shanghai on vacation. Following a very good, traditional Chinese massage, I was on my way back to the hotel when I was approached by mamasan touting "Lady Massage" for only 300 yuan. Against my better judgement, the little head decided to check this out. I don't know how she did it but she convinced me to take a short cab ride to visit her girls. (Mistake #1). All the time in the cab I'm thinking that I really should not be doing this... who knows where I'll end up. I did not have a clue where I was though I know it was somewhere between Nanjing Road and the Cruise Ship Terminal... that's about it.

We arrive at the location to find that it is a lady bar. (Mistake #2). I went in was shown a few very sexy young ladies. I knew about the scams and should have turned and left. I didn't. Oh well.

I was asked to buy a lady drink. Being cautious, I checked the price and agreed. However, watermelon, nuts and a couple other nibblies were delivered.

To make a long story short. A cute hottie fondled the "boys" for a few minutes while we waited for a room. Then I was presented a bill... 900 yuan! For a soft drink, 2 drinks, food I did not order, room charge, etc. That's about $150 US. I freaked and said, no way I'm paying that. They wanted to see my wallet and use a credit card.... yeah right.

Anyway, dropped $50 on the table and said I'm leaving. Walked out and assumed that I was going to face a bit of trouble with the bouncers but fortunately did not.

I count myself fortunate for being burned for only $50. Much more dangerous alternatives crossed my mind. That's what I get for allowing the little head to do the thinking.
