I'd like to hear from mobile Reflexologists

I've currently offering holistic and sports massage as a mobile therapist and would like to top up my therapies by learning something new in the new year.

Before blindly booking on a course I'd like to hear from mobile therapists as to what percentage of their bookings are for Reflexology [presuming it's not your only therapy] - or from those who only do Reflex how many clients you treat a week?

Belated Merry Chrimbo to you!

I am a reflexologist and also do indian head, holisitic facials and just qualified in Baby massage.

Just before Christmas I sold only 4 vouchers but 3 of them were Indian head and 1 reflexology as gifts. But in general Reflexology is the biggie for me. I only work about 2 nights a week (evenings rather) as I have a family and am also studying so I am happy with 2 a week. Sometimes just 1 a week. They seem to be repeat clients too or just a one off out of the blue.

Reflexology seems to be quite slow at the moment though...........I have not had a client since 18th December - that was a decision I made to wind down with the kids over Christmas and now do not have one until - 8th Jan -again my decision as they start back at school on 7th Jan then I have another one on 10th - so two in one week. and then another one booked in for 16th.

Things will pick up as it is word of mouth...........I have been doing reflexology now since May of 2007 but have a small clientelle who are returns!! That suits me fine with studying too.
It depends on what you want out of it and how busy you want to be and what time you have available.

I have the opportunity to work in a salon with a lady who is hiring out a room but at £70 for a day I feel it is rather expensive. !!

Mobile for me is much better......I feel from my own experience people like to have a treatment in the comfort of their own home and do not have to worry about driving home if they feel tired afterwards......and they do not mind paying extra for your travel, time etc.....

Wow TJG...£70 a day for a room....that sounds crazy!!!

I started out a year ago doing mobile and also working from home. When you are trying to build a business it helps to be flexible. Now I work from an office and i find that it the same people whom used to come to me at home and also some of the ones i used to go out to see that still come now.

In answer to YOGAJOGA's question, I would recommend aiming your advertising at people who are suffering from illnesses or disabilities which makes it difficult or impossible for them to come out of their homes for treatment. I found that Reiki was a wonderful therapy to offer to such people as it is so safe and you can give it to a client without even needing a couch or special equipment.

With regards to reflexology, yes i have had a good call for this therapy and again when aimed at the elderly or disabled etc.

Good luck with things! Remember as much as therapies need to make business sense, you will bve better studying something you have seen work and that you have a passion for. When you love what you do, people feel it!
