BOISE – With no debate, the Idaho Senate on Monday voted 14-20 against to kill legislation regarding standards for state-registered massage therapy schools.

The bill, which earlier passed the House on a 39-30 vote, would have authorized the state Board of Massage Therapy to review and approve curriculum standards for massage therapy schools. Proposed by the state Bureau of Occupational Licenses, the bill included an emergency clause.

Sen. Fred Martin, R-Boise, the bill’s Senate sponsor, said in his brief introduction of the bill, “I hope this bill won’t rub you the wrong way.” Apparently, it did.
