If you "disown" your mother, you won't be introducing her. Generally, people who are disowned have committed some sort huge offense to the person who has disowned them, and that person doesn't want anything to do with them. Thus the meaning of being "disowned."

By the way, you can say your mum isn't your mum all day long, but it doesn't change the fact that she is and always will be your mother.
