Hi Raya,
I did my first Indulgence Evening offering IHM tasters (raising money for a local pre-school) a couple of weeks ago - and like you I was a bit nervous, especially knowing I was fully booked all evening. People booked up in advance via the organisers, as there were other therapists at the venue too.
I did 15 mins sessions at ยฃ5 each (the same as the other therapists), and then we were asked to give ยฃ10 to the organisers (although I gave ยฃ20 as I got a booking for a back, neck and shoulder massage the very next day!). I had 9 clients in total throughout the 2 hours I was there (730pm-930pm). We did run over a bit but then that was due to people booking in with other therapists too. It was pretty full on, and I didnt get a break, as once one person was late it had a knock on effect - but they were all very good about it, and enjoyed it too. As I explained to them, it was only a taster and usually takes 45 mins - so imagine how relaxed you would feel after that!!
In fact, I had people stopping by asking if I could squeeze them in before the end ... unfortunately I didnt have any time left, but managed to get them to take a leaflet or biz card away!! In all, Ive got 3 bookings in the diary since then which is good, one of which has already had a full body massage treatment and is rebooking - bonus!
I also met some really nice people; another therapist who wants to do a therapy swap (excellent! when do we get to indulge ourselves eh!) and a lady who has recommended me to another fayre organiser to offer IHM tasters. Its a great opportunity to meet other like-minded therapists and you get to hear about other events too!
I invested in desktop display stand, which I put my banner on and some posters detailing the therapies that I offer, prices, biz cards, gift vouchers, brochures/leaflets - which I was/am very pleased with. An investment worth making, and one which will get used alot in the future!
I did have a mini consultation form (ideas Id collated from this site - thanks everyone!) on the table, I asked them to review the contraindications to confirm nothing untoward affected them, and then got them to fill in their contact details - well as much as they wanted too (no pressure!), and got them to sign it (I did explain it was for their benefit (health/protection/insurance), and if they wanted me to contact them in the future).
It was a great experience, and I would definately do it again!
I wish you every success with your event!
