Gates, N.Y. (WHAM) - A woman from Flushing was arrested in Gates Wednesday morning for prostitution at a spa.
Police arrested Ming Shan Lu, 50, after they said she gave a person a massage and sexual services for a fee. This happened at the Lilac Spa on Lyell Avenue.
Three other people were arrested back in November at the same location for similar charges. Lilac Spa was temporarily shut down by the town of Gates pending a legal meeting to set conditions under which they could re-open.
After agreeing to a set of conditions, the business was allowed to re-open.
However, Lu's arrest Wednesday violated those conditions and caused the business to be closed down by the town.
Lu was charged with prostitution and felony practicing a profession without a license. She posted bail and is scheduled to appear in Gates Court at a later date.
In a statement, Gates Police said "there are many legitimate massage parlors operating in Monroe County. The legal ones are highly regulated by the state and are operated by licensed well trained professionals. Legitimate consumers should be cautious when selecting a massage parlor."
