Back pain may seem like an inevitable consequence of ageing - but one massage therapist claims a simple stretch will alleviate the ache that affects millions globally.
James Moore, from Kentucky, US, demonstrated the technique to his three million Instagram followers, claiming the method will eliminate lower back pain.
Demonstrating on a massage bed, he places one leg up in a bent position, while twisting his body to the opposite side.
While this technique, among various other stretches, may well ease back pain, it is always advisable to seek professional advice for medical conditions.
He claimed that you will feel the stretch in your lower back.
On his account, @jamesmoorewellness, he captioned the video: 'Fix your lower back pain now!
'This stretch helps release the glutes and low back. Oftentimes tight glutes can go hand in hand with low back pain and tightness. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat 3x on each side!'
The popular video has received thousands of likes and back-pain sufferers flooded the comments with gratitude.
One person wrote: 'This felt good'
A second person said: 'Just tried this, instant relief.'
Another person agreed: 'I had exact pain in that spot and did this stretch. Felt so good.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), low back pain (LBP) affected 619 million people globally in 2020 and it is estimated that the number of cases will increase to 843 million by 2050.
It said that LBP can be experienced at any age, and most people will experience the pain at least once in their life.
According to the WHO, lower back pain is more prevalent in women, and it increases with age.
The highest number of LBP cases occurs at around 50 to 55 years of age.
'It is the single leading cause of disability worldwide and the condition for which the greatest number of people may benefit from rehabilitation,' according to the WHO.
To help people manage their back pain, James has a whole account dedicated to demonstrating useful stretches and techniques.
He also has a 14 Day Guide to fix back pain with stretching and self massage techniques.
The massage therapist also helps people relieve their knee pain, back pain and sciatica.
He demonstrates how you can help yourself as well as your partner with the pain.
