I'm a physics newbie...Isn't energy being destroyed in this case?

I'm currently in Year 11, and from what I've learned and understood is that energy cannot neither be created nor destroyed. But what about when you light a match?

Chemical energy is stored in the match head, and when you ignite it it turns into heat and sounds and light energy. when all that dies out, there's no more heat, light, sound, or chemical energy left.

I'm confused and sorry if i sound stupid.

it depends in what way you use the terms of course energy can be consumed it changes it's state from a chemical in this case to the production of heat and light and yes sound.
so it is consumed. this is why perpetual motion is impossible. friction is used to make the match explode into heat and light and sound.
friction is the what uses energy in all sorts of mechanical and chemical reactions a bomb is a point of fact.
energy can be produced by work done and by the absorbing of heat.it to some other form like heating a room. which is cooled by a draught under the door.

Not a stupid question at all.

The energy heats the air around you which then moves and carries it away. The total energy of the universe, of course, remains the same. Because of your match, now the air of this world is slightly hotter.
