I'm Introducing my Friend to Doctor Who Tonight... Episodes?

Hello Yahoo!Answers.

I'm a huuuge fan of Doctor Who and my friend doesn't know what it is. So, I'm going to introduce it to her later tonight. The only problem is, I'm not sure which episode I should show her. She agreed on ONE episode (unless she liked it, then we could possibly watch more) and I'm stuck on which one to show her.
I don't know which episode (of the New Who--since 2005) to show her. Do I go with the typical Blink? But I'm afraid that doesn't have enough Doctor for her to fall in love with it. Or what about The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances? Maybe... but that's kind of--alright, that IS a horror episode (as is Blink, I'll admit), but she doesn't really care for horror.

So, I need help. Which episode should be her first ever of Doctor Who?

I'm the type of person who can't stand jumping into the middle of something so I would say start with Rose. If your friends isn't bothered by things like that then i think Empty Child/Doctor Dances would be a good way to start.

Empty Child/Doctor Dances would be great, although if you just want to show one episode, I really like The Unquiet Dead. It's still early on in the series, so they're still in a sort of introductory phase, which would be good for someone new to it. I showed this one to a friend the first time and they liked it. Empty Child is really fast paced (in my opinion anyway) so it would be easy to get a bit lost for someone new to Doctor Who.

Anyway, I hope your friend enjoys it! I love Doctor Who too (esp. Chris Eccleston)

Who would be her favorite companion first? Donna with her witty, loud attitude? Martha, the good girl who loves the doctor and is super smart herself? Rose who is more a tag-a-long with a big crush and wide eye wonder? Or Amy (and Rory) who is a cross between all the other companions, except she's in love with her husband, Rory? I personally would start with the new season 6, The Impossible Astronaut since it has creepy aliens (almost as scary as the Weeping Angels), but since it's a two-parter, she can decide after the first one whether to continue with an even better episode where the Silence gets defeated (for now). Or there's the "Pirates of Caribbean" like episode, or the werewolf episode with Rose and Queen Victoria. Lots of choices, good luck! As you can tell, I'm a Who fan too! : D
