If you can get into college I would do something instead of massage. Massage only requires trade school and isn't considered a serious profession yet.
The biggest problem I see today with the massage field is its low educational and entrance requirements. We are not well respected and as you have already seen by at least one answer we are still thought of as prostitutes.
It's so easy to finish the schooling that it's insulting. I didn't study at all and made straight A's in school and scored High in all categories on the national exam.
Building a successful business, on the other hand, is another matter. There is SOOOO much competition because of the ease of entry that you really have to establish a niche in a unique area of expertise to become successful. I had to spend 2 more years and thousands more dollars after school to actually learn any techniques that would earn me any kind of money.
I'd say get a business degree first, then if you want to massage go for it. But by that time you probably will find something much better and easier to do with yourself than sweat all day, fight off perverts like Luv2Cosplay and hold on the phone for hours with insurance companies asking why they denied payments.
Yes, I HIGHLY recommend doing something better with your life! If you like the helping professions, physical therapy or physical therapy assistant is good.
