The police are arresting all people advertising in the Picture Magazine for an advertising offence. As the magazine doesn't fall under the Newspaper title - the advertisements in magazines like this, eg. Hustler, Rosies, etc. need to be approved prior to publication by the Prostitution Licensing Authority.

Advertising Guidelines

I believe the section of The Prostitution Act 1999 referred to is the following, which provides very little useful information as to approval of advertisements.

93 Advertising prostitution

• (2) A person must not publish an advertisement for prostitution that is
  not in the approved form.
  Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.

This is certainly an important isue. I mean if the authoroties don't crack down on this sought of thing. Well who know's where it could all lead. Infact i'll go as far to say that this is a bigger isue than say the Queensalnd Govt employing crappy doctors to work in govt hospitals in Bundaburgh. Could be worse. Commonwealth penalty units are $110 each.
And they multiply it by five for a corporation instead of an individual.

FIXING THE VALUE OF A FEE UNIT
AND A PENALTY UNIT

I, John Brumby, Treasurer of the State of
Victoria, under section 5 of the Monetary Units
Act 2004, by notice fix the value of a fee unit
and a penalty unit for the financial year
commencing 1 July 2005 as follows:
(a) The value of a fee unit is $10.49; and
(b) The value of a penalty unit is $104.81.
