In Relexology what do you use?

Just wondering what everyone else uses. I was taught to use talc but personally I do not like it.

Looking at getting some ART balm but is seems very expensive.

Hi Nicola,

There was a thread about cornflower the other day in the reflex section. I did ITEC reflex and we did not use anything but were told if the client had particularly sweaty feet then to use talc. Now I am practising I just use a foot massage gel or lotion at the very end of the treatment when doing a nice foot massage.

Do you apply talc to the feet before you work over them???

I use Tui Foot Balme, from songbird naturals, its a beeswax, with some essential oils, we used it in college last year, they do all sorts of different blends for different things, such as massage balm, lip balm etc

I originally used talc, then went on to lotions/creams, then oils. The oils I like are sesame and coconut which are also therapeutic, i.e. anti-fungals. Both cold-pressed & unrefined from a health food shop. They are heavier oils then say sweet almond oil and therefore less slippery. All depends on what technique you use. Personally I wouldn't go back to powers, I'm a typical bloke gets it every where ! Yes, I can't multi-task either !

Hi All,

I use a cream as I find this works best for me. I use a completely organic natural one which has a heavenly smell and texture. It is so natural you could eat it though I can't think of any good reason why anyone would want to! As, with treatments, I am helping to detox my clients I felt I did not want to be adding stuff to their feet which would, in effect, re-tox them!

I was also taught to use talc, but it goes everywhere, especially when I wear a black tunic and trousers. I use foot lotion now which is much better. I use a 'Boots' one, peppermint and camomile which has a lovely smell.

Went on to cream and now using beeswax like someone else said.

Hi when I did my VTCT I was taught to work with talc. On the AOR course I was taught to use nothing atall and this is what I do now. I find that I can't work the feet properly when I use oil or cream - though I do use a cream at the end when I do a bit of relaxation. Interesting about the beeswax though, I can imagine that this isn't as slippery as cream. Think I may look into this one.

I was taught to use Talcs or oils.
But I now use carriers oils or an organic foot cream bought form an organic company on the web.
Lasts ages and smells great.
I find it glides easier than oils sometimes depending on how dry the feet are.

I was taught to use cornstarch as talc can be carcinogenic. Neals Yard do a lovely tree tree and lavendar foot powder.

I find creams and oils too slippery and I can't feel the reflexes properly.
